Springfield College Women's Volleyball Standout Lauren Holt of Granby, CT (06035) Earns First Team Capital One Academic All-American(R)

Springfield College Women's Volleyball Standout Lauren Holt of Granby, CT (06035) was honored for her commitment to athletics as well as academics, and was named a First Team Capital One Academic All-American(R) by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Holt becomes the 31st student-athlete in Springfield College history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America(R) recognition. This marks the fourth time that a member of the Springfield College women's volleyball team has earned the national academic honor, and the just the second time that a student-athlete has earned a spot on the first team.

Additionally, Holt was one of only three women's volleyball student-athletes at the NCAA Division III level to earn both First Team Capital One Academic All-American(R) honors and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First Team All-America honors.

An Athletic Training major at Springfield College, Holt put together a season for the ages as she was was outstanding on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

A key reason why Springfield earned its sixth-straight trip to the NCAA Championship, Holt registered 295 kills at a sensational .401 clip, which not only led the conference, but was also the fifth best hitting percentage in the nation. Defensively, she was even more dominant, as she produced the most blocks (192) and blocks per set (1.68) of any player at the NCAA Division III level this year. Additionally, her 192 blocks proved to be a new single-season program record.

Holt has been recognized for her efforts this season by earning New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Volleyball Athlete of the Year as well as NEWVA and AVCA All-New England honors. Earlier this year, Holt became just the third AVCA All-America First Team honoree in program history.
